Katharine Kathy Dean Sperry Nickolauson

Katharine Dean Nickolauson (Sperry, Miller, Jarvis) was born March 23, 1929 and went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2016.

She was born in Colville, WA to Grace Dean Sperry and Stanford Jack Sperry. She is survived by her husband, Lance Nickolauson (Spokane Valley), two sons, Gary Miller (Glenda), and Mike Miller, and two daughters, Trudy Jewhurst (Jeff), and Julie Cole (Tom), grandchildren Charles Miller (Erica), Janelle Fegan, Crystal Fry, Christopher Jewhurst (Danielle), Kelsey Jewhurst, Kendall Jewhurst, Grant Aleshkin, and Aliya Aleshkin and great grandchildren Delaney, Devon, Charles, Ashton, Athena, and Darren as well as many great and great- great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother Grace Sperry Aug. 17, 1977, her father Stanford “Jack” Sperry Apr. 8, 1967, and her sister Elizabeth Bacon May 8, 2011.

Kathy was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. She passed on her love of animals to all of her children and grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She had a tradition of calling each one on their birthday and singing happy birthday. When asked if she wanted dessert she would always insist on just a “sliver”. She taught generations of children how to play go fish and crazy 8’s.

A visitation will be Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 from 3-7pm at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA. The graveside will be at the WA State Veteran’s Cemetery, Sept.19, 2016 at 11:15am. The Memorial Service will be Monday, Sept. 19, 2016 at 1:30pm at Thornhill Valley Chapel.
