Lyla Truedell, a joy to all that knew and loved her, passed away on August 29, 2021. Lyla was born March 11, 1931, in Minot, North Dakota, into a family of hard-working and devoted Christians. She was the third of six children and counted family and faith as the center of her world. A resident of the Spokane Valley for 70 years, Lyla was a loving mother to daughter Connie and affectionate aunt to 16 nieces and nephews. Social and with a keen eye for beauty, she enjoyed planning events for her sorority, decorating, and spending time in her garden. Lyla was devout in her faith and spent cherished moments praying and studying the bible; this gave her peace and filled her with joy, as did watching her puppies play and visiting with family. She was known for inviting others to catch up over a cup of coffee and a treat at Denny's. Always interested and caring about what was going on in other's lives, Lyla was a fantastic listener who offered her full attention and made others feel valued. She also loved her ice cream and referred to it as "her treat." The family is thankful to Ken Richter, Connie's life partner, and Lyla's devoted caretaker, for 15 years of compassionate support. Lyla is survived by daughter Connie Bascetta of the Spokane Valley, sisters Carole Hall of Moses Lake and Gloria Kilian of Spokane Valley, and many nieces and nephews. Her presence, good humor, decency, and kindness will be greatly missed!
