

Margaret Ann (Parker) Sandberg was born September 17, 1941, to Marion (Tillon) Parker and Floyd G. Parker in Dannebrog, Nebraska. She passed away on November 9, 2025, at Cornerstone Court Assisted Living in Spokane, WA.
Margaret's first 5 years of life was in Dannebrog, Nebraska. She started school at Havelock Elementary School in Havelock, Nebraska. Her father was employed by the Nebraska State Education Department while working on his Doctorate Degree at the University of Nebraska. During this time the family of 6 lived in Havelock near Lincoln, Nebraska. She walked to Elementary school, loved arts and sciences and wanted to be a teacher. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Dannebrog, confirmed in the Luther Church in Havelock and enjoyed summer church camps. As a teen she was active in the Lutheran Church in East Lansing Michigan in the Youth Group Luther League, taught Sunday School and was part of the Lutheran Church Association.
Margaret earned from Michigan State University a Bachelor's Degree in Teaching Special Students and a Master's Degree in teaching the Visually Impaired and Blind. She was certified to teach Orientation and Mobility via training at Texas Tech University. She also earned a Master's Degree at the University of Alaska in Counseling. She met Harlem Sandberg at Michigan State University in the Lutheran Student Graduate Association. She married Harlem Dellner Sandberg on June 20, 1965, at University Lutheran Church in East Lansing, Michigan. She started teaching with Special Children in Worthington, Minnesota, then moved to Fairbanks, Alaska where Harlem was employed at the University of Alaska. They lived there for 20 years raising two children, Tecla Ann Sandberg and Todd Dellner Sandberg and she taught Kindergarten at Fort Wainwright on Base School, Preschool at the University of Alaska and was an Elementary Gifted Teacher and Itinerant Teacher for Visually Impaired and the Blind for the Fairbanks School District.
Upon moving to Spokane, she opened a private Counseling service and eventually became an Itinerant Teacher for the Visually Impaired for the Spokane Educational District. She then ventured to Pacific Grove, California where she was a Low Vision Specialist for the Blind and Visually Impaired Center. Follow that she became a Vision Consultant for the New Hampshire Educational Services for the Sensory Impaired. Her final teaching position was with the Boise Idaho School District where she was an Itinerant Teacher for the Visually Impaired and Blind. During these years her favorite church efforts were bible study, helping with quilting and enjoyed Camp Lutherhaven Senior Activities during her senior years.
Margaret is buried at Pines Cemetery, Spokane Valley, Washington. She is survived by her husband, Harlem Sandberg; daughter, Tecla; son Todd (Kim) and brother James (Carol); several grandchildren and cousins. Preceding here in death were sister, Barbara and brother, Charles.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests memorials be made to Camp Lutherhaven or Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
