Marjorie G. Finley

(1928-2013)

Marjorie passed away December 27, 2013 at age 85. She was the youngest of four children born to Forrest Romayne and Dolores Ethyl (Plumb) Haroldson, in Spokane, Washington on January 1st, 1928. She enjoyed many activities with her sisters and brother, including dancing and music. As a student at North Central High School, Marjorie was active in chorus and was on the Cheer Leading Squad. After high school Marjorie went to work at the Old National Bank and finished her career with Washington Trust Bank. While working at Pattison’s Roller Rink, she met U.S. Navy 1st Class Seaman Gorden E. Finley. Marjorie and Gorden married in 1948 and were together until his death in 2002. Marjorie is survived by her children daughter Laura (Finley) Santos, son-in-law, Roy Santos of Manhattan Beach, California, son Craig Finley, daughter-in-law, Lori (Churchill) Finley of Spokane Valley and their children, Finley Romano of Spokane Valley and Christy (Finley) Anderson and Josh Anderson of Albany, Oregon. She is also survived by her sister Priscilla (Haroldson) Hanenburg and brother-in-law Martin Hanenburg of Conroe, Texas. When her husband, Gorden, became a teacher in the Central Valley School District in 1958 they build a home in the Spokane Valley. Their home was one of the first in the new neighborhood. Marjorie enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors, playing the piano and organ, knitting, family camping trips, canoeing, motorcycle riding with her husband, visits to exciting cities throughout the world, attending church at Opportunity Presbyterian Church, taking pictures with Gorden and Craig and being a member of the Spokane Valley Camera Club.

Interment will be in Pines Cemetery on Saturday, January 11th at 11:00am. A Celebration of Marjorie’s Life will be on Saturday, January 25th, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Hamblen Park Presbyterian Church.
