Mary M. Hathaway

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Margaret Hathaway. Mary passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Spokane Valley Hospital. Mary was born in Moscow, ID on November 27, 1921, daughter of Clifford and Susan (Johns) Davidson. She grew up on American Ridge and in Kendrick, Idaho where she graduated from high school and was captain of the basketball team. Her mother was an RN and following her lead, Mary took her nurse's training at Sacred Heart Hospital and Gonzaga University in Spokane. Mary married the love of her life Ray H. Hathaway on June 15, 1941 after seeing each other across a crowded dance floor six months previously. Her beauty, quick wit and charm captivated him from the beginning. Ray became a pilot in the early 1950's and Mary earned her pilot's license in 1957. She enjoyed golfing, water and snow skiing, fishing, tennis and crosswords, but her greatest passion was her family including her four footed and furry grandchildren. She was cherished and loved by all those who knew her. Mary is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ray of 63 years. She is survived by loving daughters, Caroline Hathaway of Carlsbad, CA and Marjorie Hathaway of Spokane, WA; her poodle Tasha; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
