

Michael James “Mike” McMackin age 74, of Veradale, passed away July 16, 2011 in Spokane, WA. He was born March 7, 1937 in Colfax, WA to James L. and Virginia (Vollmer) McMackin, who preceded him in death. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Donna (Meacham) McMackin at the family home; two sons Brian and Kathleen McMackin of Denver CO, and Darin McMackin of Spokane, WA; six grandchildren; one sister Mary Bett and Adrian Townsend of Pullman, WA. He grew up and attended school in Pullman WA graduating from Pullman High School, he attended and graduated with his Masters Degree in Agronomy from Washington State University. Mike spent 30 years teaching Agriculture at the Spokane Community College, and he was a Crop Insurance Adjuster for over 30 years. He was an active member of the Inland Empire Railroad Historical Society, the Fire and Railway Museum located in Hillyard and the NW Villagers Club. Mike loved gardening, trains, and especially the time he spent with his grandchildren and family. A memorial service will take place in the Colonial Chapel of Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home on Friday, July 22, at 2:00 pm.
