Myrtle Wilma Caudill, passed away quietly in her sleep on Thursday, March 7, 2013, just six days before her 94th birthday. Myrtle lived her enter life within 3 miles of her birth place on the east side of Spokane, WA. She was born on March 13, 1919 to Charles Sigfried Norman and Martha Alexis Showers in Spokane. She was the second of nine children.
Myrtle particularly enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Waitts Lake, WA. She often talked of her mother packing the kids in the car when school got out and returning a week before school started in the fall. She was active in functions at Centenary Methodist and participated in many rummage sales and teas. Myrtle is believed to be the last surviving member of “The ETC Club”. This was a group of girls from Lewis & Clark High School who met once a month for over 60 years to “eat, talk, and chatter.” The true meaning of the “ETC Club” was kept in upmost secrecy from family and friends and to this day no one knows for sure. Myrtle was an active bowler and was very proud of her many pins and trophies.
She particularly enjoyed traveling the Pacific Northwest participating in many tournaments. She played golf at Wandermere Golf Course in a women’s league and talked often of playing golf in the morning, recording scores while eating lunch then going bowling in the afternoon. She seemed to always be secretary of some league organization. Myrtle married Kenneth Arville Caudill on Christmas Day in 1937. They enjoyed a happy marriage of travelling, fishing and hunting until Kenneth’s death on July 20, 1981.
