Went home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ, on October 22nd 2011 after valiantly fighting a series of health problems over the last 3 years. He made Newport, WA his home for over 26 years. He was being cared for at the Spokane Veteran's Nursing Home for the last 18 months.
He was born in Genesee, ID on June the 28th 1931 to Wilfred & Lula Cameron. Tom was a graduate of North Central High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp and was an “MP” from 1950-1952. He truly loved being able to say that he was one of “Uncle Sam's Misguided Children” (USMC). He served in Hawaii, Guam, and lastly on the island of Kwajalein, where he guarded a Japanese General during his last year of service. During his time in the U.S. Marine Corp. his tales of Roman Candle fights, in Diamond Head Crater, Oahu, Hawaii to helping the Guam Natives hunt for food, “at night”, will forever be some of our favorite memories. For over 20 years he worked in the Welding Industry, working for Gibson Welding and Norweco Welding Supplies. He was the General Manager for Norweco Welding Supplies for many years. He semi-retired in 1980 and went into the Concession Business from 1980 to 2008. He fully retired in 2008 when he could no longer travel. He enjoyed Golfing and Bingo. He most of all loved his Children, Grandchildren, and Great Grandchildren. In general, he loved everyone who came into his life. When greeting people, and was asked how he was, his favorite phrase was “I'm tremendous colossal, stupendous, and bodacious; but I guess I don't need to go overboard”! His love for children, grandchildren, family and friends was what was most important to him. He spent most of his time helping anyone who needed him and was a Pops, Father, or Grandpa to all who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 Brothers, 2 Sisters, 1 Stepson, and 2 Special Grandsons. He's survived by his wife, of 36 years, Shirley, his Son and Daughter Terry Cameron & Laurie Kochel, Sons Randy, Rick, and Tom Davis, his Grandchildren Brandon, Kali, Kyle, Kara, Ian, Issac, Jake, Terry, and Keith, 6 Great Grandchildren, and many Nieces & Nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 31st from 2PM to 8PM at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 South Pines Rd. Spokane Valley, WA. Graveside Services for Tom will be at the Veteran's Cemetery, in Medical Lake, WA, Tuesday November 1, 2011 at 1:30PM. There will be a reception, following Burial, at the the VFW Post 1471 in Hillyard on 2902 E Diamond Ave Spokane, WA at 3:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please make any Memorial Contributions to the Disabled American Veterans Assoc., the YMCA Youth Sports Program or a Charity of your choice
