

Born August 1, 1951, in the welcoming town of Miles City, Montana, Ardis illuminated the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Daughter to Richard and Eva Waldow who instilled in her the values of compassion and resilience. Growing up alongside her brothers Gary and Douglas (deceased ‘52) and sisters Carol (deceased ‘08) and Lynn, Ardis cherished the lifelong memories they created together, holding her family's love close to her heart.
In November of 1969, Ardis married Howard Norton. Together, they built a life rich with joy and laughter, welcoming their beloved children, Curtis Norton (1970) and Teresa Hamilton (1973). Ardis was a proud graduate of St. Marie’s High School in Idaho, Class of 1969. She began her career at Sears where she skillfully balanced work and motherhood. Later, she found her true calling in nutritional services with Spokane Public Schools, dedicating 35 remarkable years to Lidgerwood Elementary. Colleagues and children alike remember her for her quick wit, kind heart, and genuine care.
Ardis had a zest for life that was evident in her love for adventure. She delighted in trips to Reno, beach outings, and moments spent at Seaside, Oregon, where she felt a deep connection to the ocean's tranquility. Known for her affinity for visiting casinos, she enjoyed countless joyful hours with family and friends. Her green thumb also shone brightly in her garden, where she nurtured plants with the same love she shared with her family. Always present for her children’s school events, Ardis was their biggest cheerleader, offering unwavering support and encouragement.
She is survived by her son Curtis Norton, daughter Teresa Hamilton, granddaughter Alyssa Hamilton, and grandsons Jeffrey and Brandon Norton, her brother Gary Waldow and sister Lynn Mourning, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who remember her as “loved forever.” She has joined her parents, Richard (deceased’97) and Eva Waldow (deceased’07), brother Douglas Waldow and sister Carol Hanson.
A celebration of Ardis' life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home, located at 5100 W Wellesley Ave, Spokane, WA 99205.
Family and friends are welcomed to gather in remembrance of a life beautifully lived, sharing stories, laughter, and tears as they honor the memory of a truly remarkable woman.
Ardis Faye Norton touched the lives of all she encountered with boundless love and unwavering kindness. Though she has departed from this world, her spirit continues to glow brightly in the hearts of all who loved her. May her memory serve as a guiding light to those fortunate enough to have known her.
