Regna Allen and died on January 9, 2014. She was a graduate of Lewis and Clark
High School. She began working at age 14 as a page in the Spokane Library and went on
to have a career spanning over 40 years in the City of Spokane library system. When
World War II interrupted her college plans, she became an air raid warden in the
basement of the old Heath library branch. After a brief marriage in 1941, she remained
single for the rest of her life.
Upon retiring she took many great trips including ones to Alaska, Canada and the East
Coast. She loved to cook and feed people and as a longtime member of Bethany
Presbyterian Church the Welcome Neighbors dinners were a pet project of hers. She
also enjoyed summering at Deer Lake where she had a place for many years. While she
was an avid animal lover, she was especially fond of dogs.
Special thanks to Emilie Court Assisted Living, Family Home Care and Hospice of
Spokane for their excellent care.
Doris will be remembered fondly by her family and her many friends. A memorial
service will be held at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 2607 S. Ray, Spokane, WA 99223
on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements under the direction of Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, Spokane, WA.
