

Eloise L. “Cookie” Buckley, (age 87) went to be with God and her husband, Leo on January 22, 2011. She was born on May 8, 1923 in Minnesota. She was also preceded in death by her father, Hans; mother, Lida (aged 105) and three sisters, Avis, Erma and Selma. She is survived by her son, Alan, sister, Doris and numerous nieces and nephews. She worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” in an airplane factory in St. Cloud, MN during WW II. She traveled to Italy and Germany in the late 40’s where one of her brothers-in-law was stationed. In the 1950’s she came to Spokane with another sister and her husband. Here she met and married Leo Buckley in 1954 and their son was born a year later. She worked for the Telephone Company for several years. She also worked for Muscular Dystrophy during their fall fundraising drives for many years. She and Leo also delivered meals for the Valley Meals on Wheels, as well as, doing the mailings for both them and the local Lupus Chapter.
She and Leo traveled to many places, including Minnesota, Alaska and Hawaii. The family would like to thank the following people for their assistance since Leo passed away: Cheryl Kilmer, Twila Leadon, Diane Dean, the staffs of Manor Care, Holy Family Hospital, Royal Plaza Retirement Center and finally Dr. Leroy Byrd.
Memorial services will be held at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA in March of 2011. The inurnment will follow at Pines Cemetery, Spokane Valley.
