I had lost touch with Emily Sue and found some pictures of her mom and my mom, who were college roommates for their freshman year at WSU.  I was looking up her address to send her the pictures and found her obituary.  So sad.  Our families were friends for years and we had good times.  Emily was the last of her siblings, Tom and Martha,  and her mom and dad died years ago.  I am so sorry I lost touch with her.  She would take flowers out to my mom and dad's graves......so thoughtful.  She loved her husband and her dogs and her sweet mom and dad.   Rest in Peace, Emily Sue.

I am the genealogist for the Doolittles of America.  I just sent out the newsletter and Emily Sue Pike email just came back.  Will remember her at the reunion in June.

Bless your heart Emily.  You showed so many kindnesses along the way.  Much love and respect to Don.  

So my name is Tracy Melius, Emily sue was my first fiend here in Spokane, I moved from Las Vegas,  and I was also into crafts like emily sue .  She instantly became my best friend. I wanted to put her and my pocket. She was always filled with stories from her past.  We would do craft fairs together, and go up to the Hansen farm to pick apples and peaches and see the puppy and and visit .  
We did unfortunately get into a tiff just before she fell ill.  At the same time I was going through a rough time at home. She was always there for me.   I cant say I was always there for her.  I always found one excuse or another not to have to leave my house.   and besides her driving scared the hell out of me.

Regardless of my issues, she ended up in the hospital, over and over again , her and Don , neither of them were doing so well.   I never made the effort to check in on her. And then I realized  that nor I or my daughter who talked to her more than me, had not heard from her in a long time.  

So  I finally looked her up in the obituaries and was actually surprised and not surprised to find her.  
 I am now one of those who wishes I could of said something else to her before her leaving this world. I loved her so very much. and will always miss her.

We have been neighbors with Emily and Don for many years but we became friends about 6 years ago when we had a yard sale. Emily and I connected quickly because of our love for crafts. I was lucky enough to be able to work  craft shows with Emily and I  am truly amazed of her talents. Emily will be truly missed and our thoughts and prayers go  out to her family and friends.

Emily, a woman to be reckoned with for sure!  I loved her spirit, energy, voice, and strength.  Teaching next door to her in the North Central portables was a time of great laughter for both of us. I'm filled with fond memories of watching her interact with the students while teaching the subject she loved, social studies.  You would think she was tough as nails with kids, and then you would walk in her room and watch her helping the girls fix their hair with the curling iron Emily brought to class.   Politics was her love too and she served her community well after retirement as a conservative patriot.  I loved her and I'm so thankful she was a part of my life.  Rest in peace Emily, you're with God now.  And don't hold it against him if he's a little bit liberal!  ;-)
