

Ethel M. Watkins (age 90) passed away December 19, 2011 in Spokane, WA. She was born November 5, 1921 in Decatur, IL, the oldest of ten children of Harold and Nona (Crawley) Hull. Ethel was raised in Decatur and married Kenneth Watkins on February 14, 1938. She moved to Spokane during World War II where the couple settled to raise their family. Over the years she served as a Cub Scout pack leader and enjoyed her flower gardening. Ethel and Kenneth also enjoyed their involvement with the Lilac City Caravaners trailer club. She is survived by her son, Jerry Watkins (Rita); granddaughter, Susan Vandergriend (Garrett); two great grandchildren, Ryley and Ella Vandergriend, all of Spokane; two brothers, Ed Hull (Bonnie) of Mt. Zion, IL, Wayne Hull (Char) of Decatur, IL; two sisters, Gloria Strohl (Bill) and Norma Webb (Dean), all of Decatur; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Watkins (2000); three sisters and two brothers. At her request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your choice of charity. Arrangements entrusted to Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. in Spokane.
