Evelyn Ruth Truitt

Evelyn was born on September 8, 1949 in El Paso, Texas to Wayne and Irmgard Walters. Her father, Wayne, was in the Air Force and Evelyn spent most of her childhood and teen years in Germany, growing up close to her mother, Irmgard’s family.

She met her future husband, James Truitt in Ogden, Utah in 1968 and they married in 1970. The couple moved to Florida and had two children together, Melissa and James. They were married for 31 years before Jim passed away in 2001.

Evelyn enjoyed reading and traveling but what she loved most was being a grandmother. She was so proud of her grandson, Seth when he graduated high school with honors in June of 2021 and that he started college this fall. Evelyn was also proud of her granddaughters, Emma and Kathryn for doing so well in school and for being such sweet and kind girls.

Evelyn is survived by her sister, Susan and brother-in-law, Frank Alberts of Roy, Utah and her daughter Melissa Sue (Truitt) Burris, her son-in-law Joshua, and her grandchildren Seth James, Emma Elizabeth, and Kathryn Evelyn, all of Spokane, WA.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Franklin Truitt, her son, James Wayne Truitt, and her parents Wayne Wesley Walters and Irmgard Gertrud (Wendte) Walters.
