Keelie Dawn Lewis was born in Spokane on July 21, 1970. Aside from some travels hitting all coasts in the US and Canada, she was a lifelong resident. Growing up, involved in church, a Christian conference led her to Washington DC with her high school youth group where Lisa Whelchel, actress from Facts of Life, was a main speaker. Excited about her relationship with Jesus encouraged through this event, she considered her mission a monumental turning point and growth in faith.
Keelie's passion and talent in the arts started early. She was recommended into a gifted program by a teacher for her drawings. She did not shy away from performing on stage. She shared her talents by singing and playing clarinet, earning first chair. After graduating from high school, she pursued more arts and continued her education. Keelie's interest in music in her later years was met through a hobby of entertaining and enjoyment of friends in a karaoke community.
Keelie was a free spirit who soared at key moments in her life especially in her earliest years. She pushed the limits in her world of music expression. She was known to create delicious dishes in the kitchen, took part in ski club and was on a cheer squad for the boys wrestling team, and sometimes adventured with her sister in life through decorating, skiing, sewing, photography, hiking and swimming and much more.
She was part of a family who attended church together and church camps, gardened, raised many pets, took road trips, went fishing and camping, and went to concerts and theatre, enjoyed entertaining whether alone as a family with readings and acting out scripts, playing music or games or barbeques and dinners with other families. Together with her family, they all loved holiday traditions. A favorite was downtown shopping, going out to eat and taking in a show, like Nutcracker, to enjoy all magical Christmas ambiance in the days before malls were built.
She is survived by her daughter, Kailen; her parents, Stanley (Stan) and Carole; her older sister Sherilyn (Sheri); her nephew, Nathaniel (Nate), niece, Mikayla, aunts, uncles, cousins and those friends with genuine hearts who mutually, with Keelie, shared a special place in the hearts of one another.
She is preceded in death by Gustov, her cat, who lived many lifetimes to remain a great partner and keep her company.
We have high hope that Keelie is dancing in the glory in heaven with Jesus. Her time on earth was a difficult journey and she longed for the things that can only be filled by a loving God. Today that void has been filled and will forever live in peace. She shines as bright and vast as a sunset at Dawn.
"You make the dawn and the sunset shout for joy" Psalm 65:8
