

Larry Russell Harty, age 62, of Spokane, WA, went to be with his Lord on October 29, 2011. He was born December 23, 1948, in Spokane. Larry was preceded in death by his father, George R. Harty; mother, Frances (Allen) Walden; and sister, Vikki (Harty) Bingle. He is survived by his son, Brook Harty of Newcastle, WA; sister and brother-in-law, Vonnie (Harty) and Wayne Hale of Spokane; four grandchildren, D.J., Melanee, Raymond, and Ford Harty. He is also survived by two nieces, Melynda (Hale) Lindquist, Becky Hale; two great-nieces, Jadelyn Lindquist, Ashley Hale; three great-nephews, Bailey Beerbohm, Preston Beerbohm, Drew Sheffield; one aunt, Donna Wakefield; numerous cousins; and longtime friend, Jerry Foster.
Larry was raised on the family farm and he, like his grandma, Bertha (Burchett) Batty, had a great love for the animals. He attended the Mead schools, and was a Vietnam Veteran, having joined the Army at age 17. He was injured in Vietnam and returned home, marrying the girl of his dreams, Deborah Drake. They had one son, Brook. They moved to many towns to find work, and while in California, he and Debbie found their love for the Lord. They came back to Spokane and were later divorced. Larry liked watching TV and his favorite series was MASH. He loved his family and friends, a good game of cribbage and music. While in high school he was in a band with his buddy, Steve Jackson. Later in life Larry wrote a lovely song praising his Lord. Larry passed away in the Spokane Veterans Hospital, and was surrounded by his family and friends. He is now with his Savior.
Visitation will be Thursday from Noon to 4 PM and Friday from 9 AM to Noon at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St. in Spokane. Funeral Services will be at 1:30 pm on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Eastern Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Rd. in Medical Lake, WA.
