Robert G. Eisenbarth passed away on April 11, 2021 at the age of 96. He was born April 8, 1925 New Rockford, North Dakota. His parents moved to the Hillyard neighborhood of Spokane when he was three. He attended Bemiss Elementary and graduated from John R. Rogers high school in 1943. He joined the U.S. Navy June, 1943 and served three years in the South Pacific, with the Carrier Aircraft Service Unit (F)-20. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, The American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He married the love of his life “Skip” Byrdella Cutler, Dec. 29th, 1945. He was an avid snow skier and former member of the Spokane Mountaineers and a member of the Selkirk Ski Club since 1946. He and his wife spent many ski vacations visiting ski resorts in the U.S., Europe, Canada and New Zealand. Bob taught skiing lessons for the Spokesman-Review Ski School and served on the Mt. Spokane Ski Patrol for four years. He worked for both the United States Postal Service and the Continental Baking Company for several years. Bob and Skip then moved to Nine Mile Falls in 1960, where he then, along with his brother-in-law, Maynard Cutler, developed the land located on West Shore Rd., Nine Mile Falls, WA. Bob was active in community affairs. He was a volunteer Fireman for Spokane County Fire District #9 from 1963-1985, and a volunteer school bus driver as well. He served in the community to replace the old wooden plank bridge below the Nine Mile Falls dam. He served on the Nine Mile Falls Township Board. He was involved in the development of Sontag Park and preservation of Lake Spokane. He is a life member of York Lodge #234 Freemason’s, Scottish Rite, Shriners and VFW. He attended many CASU-20 Navy reunions throughout the years. Bob was a kind, fun, caring man, loved by many. He enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, boating, motorbiking, golfing, camping, traveling abroad and spending time with his friends and family. After age 70, Bob retired from skiing. He and his wife became snow-birds in Yuma, AZ., for 15 years before returning to the Spokane area permanently. Bob and Skip were married for 73 wonderful years, Skip passed in 2019. Bob is survived by his son Jay (Katherine) Eisenbarth, his brother Dean (Laura) Eisenbarth, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on April 23rd, 11:00 AM at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home, located at 5100 W. Wellesley Ave. Spokane, WA. Visitation with friends and family will be held immediately afterwards. Internment will follow visitation at 2:00 PM, Union Cemetery Orchard Prairie, WA.
