Sarah Leinweber McKay, 107, of Spokane, passed amidst a coronavirus outbreak December 18, 2020. She was born in Endicott, July 25, 1913, the 8th of 16 children of Volga German immigrant parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Leinweber. Sarah attended Endicott High School. She married Bruce McKay on November 13, 1934. They farmed in Graves Township, just south of Cheney, until retiring & moving to Spokane in 1972. She was a charter member of Amber Grange Wheat Growers and was known for her beautiful garden. Sarah was a wise mom, beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, neighbor and special friend. Her sense of humor, positive attitude, consistency and belief in hard work inspired all. She saw the good in everyone. She lived on her own in her home until the age of 102 when she relocated to Moran Vista Senior Living where she received loving care. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Bruce McKay and her son, Donald McKay. She is survived by daughter Barbara, (Richard) Van Vleck and daughter-in-law Carol McKay, also grandchildren, Dave (Pam) McKay, Joanne McKay, Mike (Simone) McKay, Ron Mckay Elaine Van Vleck, Crissa (Brendan) Williams and three great grandchildren, Lindsay McKay, Kendra McKay and Clayton McKay.
