

Schmidt, Vera Mae (Nee Law) (Larson) (McGrew) (Age 90) Vera was born in Tacoma, WA, March 27, 1921. She joined her Lord on August 26, 2011. Survived by her husband, Donald Schmidt at their home; brother, Elbert Law (Mary) of Fox Island, WA; her three daughters, Pauline Essinger (Donald) of Green Valley, AZ; Roberta Van Dyke (Bill) of Tucson, AZ, and Corinne Reitmeier of Spokane, WA; as well as five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also has three foster children; Johann Duenholter, Donna Harper and Francis Lloyd. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Larson, Weymeth McGrew; and parents, Cyril and Cecil Law. Vera was a very active church member most of her life, starting with the First Christian Church in Puyallup, WA. At the Montgomery Ave. Christian Church in Spokane, WA, she was the youth director, song leader, teacher, pianist and choir member. She also worked with the youth at Greenacres Christian Church. She was a positive influence in the lives of many children and youth. She was affectionately referred to as Grandma McGrew. In later years, she taught Sunday School at Church of Christ in the Wildwood in Deer Park, WA.
A graveside service will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens on September 3, 2011 at 2:30 PM. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane, 121 S. Arthur, PO Box 2215R, Spokane, WA 99210.
