A wonderful wife, loving Mother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. All of her family was at her side when she passed onto the hands of God. He will receive you when he is ready and he did. See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called the children of God; and so we are.
Virginia was the second oldest in her family, born October 13, 1937 in Spokane WA to Bert and Ruth Ottosen. She grew up in the Waverly area with her siblings- Robert Ottosen, Dixie (Ottosen)Heyworth, Chris Ottosen (d), Chuck Ottosen, James Ottosen (d), John Ottosen, Frank Ottosen, Mary Ann(Ottosen) Warner, Jerry Ottosen and Terri(Ottosen) Smith. She graduated from Latah High School in 1956. She married the love of her life George (Bud) Engelhardt on June 26, 1957. They were stationed in Junction City Kansas at Fort Riley with the U.S. Army. Virginia was the Mother of four children, their first child Richard was born in November of 1958. They then moved to Colville WA in 1960 where their second child Ronda was born in March of 1961. The couple moved to Davenport WA 1962 and their twins were born Edward and Brenda Dee born in November of 1965. In 1967 the couple settled in the Fairfield / Waverly area to raise their family. In 1986 they moved to Spokane where they lived for 23 years before retiring. George and Virginia were blessed in marriage for 59 years.
Virginia was devoted to her family. She was a beautiful woman full of kindness and an open loving heart. She was a good listener and would offer her love and support. She loved to bake and always had fresh cookies in her cookie jar, with her favorite being chocolate chip and snickerdoodles. She worked at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Fairfield WA for years along – side her Mother Ruth. She was loved by many there as well. She was the very best at rocking babies, and often they would sleep peacefully in her arms. Her comforting arms and making everyone feel welcome will be gratefully missed.
Virginia was survived by her husband Bud Engelhardt, and their children Richard and Danielle Engelhardt, Ronda and Brad Newman, Edward and Cyndee Engelhardt, Brenda Dee and Greg Galbreath. Eleven Grand Children and twenty Great- Grand Children, her siblings previously listed, nieces, nephews, relatives and many loving friends.
The Lord God blessed us with this beautiful woman. Let us think of her each time we see the sight of footprints in the sand, as this was her favorite.
Services and a celebration of Virginia’s life will be held on Friday September 30th at 2:00 P.M. at the Cedonia Community Church 4562 Hwy 25 South Hunters WA 99137. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to the Cedonia Community Church.
