

Betty Lou Spivey, a beloved resident of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on October 13, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on August 25, 1933, in Vass, North Carolina, Betty was a cherished daughter of Hattie and James Early Cooper. She was a compassionate and loyal individual, known for her hard-working nature and dedication to her family and community.
Betty graduated from high school and went on to work as an AID Condenser at an electric corporation and later as a PBX Operator at a bank. Despite her professional achievements, her proudest accomplishment was being a housewife and raising her three children. Betty was married to the late Chester Lane Spivey, with whom she shared a loving life.
She is survived by her son, Chester Lane Spivey Jr., and two daughters, Gloria Elaine Guardalabene and Patricia Ann Davis. Her legacy is carried on by her grandchildren: Mary Beth Spivey, Darrin James Spivey, Jeannean Turnbull, Lori Ruiz, Patrick Smith, Michael Jason Guardalabene, and Ashley Ann Keniston, as well as 17 great-grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her siblings, James Cooper, Paul Cooper, Roy Cooper, Nelson Cooper, and Kenneth Cooper. Her grandmother, Little Mamie, lived to be 105, a testament to the longevity in her family.
Betty's fondest childhood memories were filled with family gatherings, and her earliest ambition was to find someone loving and get married. She was proud of her musical talents, having sung at church and on the radio, and she enjoyed playing basketball and winning beauty pageants. Her favorite songs included "Amazing Grace," "Wind Beneath My Wings," and "Old Rugged Cross," and her favorite color was purple. Betty had a passion for gardening, canning, camping, and attending church. She loved celebrating holidays and birthdays with her family, which brought her immense joy.
A visitation will be held at Turner Funeral Homes, Crematory and Cemetery, located at 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34609, on October 24, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Following the visitation, a committal service will take place at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, 14354 Spring Hill Dr, Spring Hill, FL 34609, from 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm.
Betty Lou Spivey will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her compassionate spirit, and her unwavering loyalty. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
