On December 12, 2022, Carmen "Carmelita" Mendez passed away, peacefully in her sleep. She was 91 years old. Originally born in Santurce, Puerto Rico, Carmen moved to New York at the age of sixteen. She dedicated herself to taking care of patients as a CNA for most of her adult life. Upon retirement, she relocated to Spring Hill, Florida where she continued to care for others as she loved to do. She enjoyed cooking, dancing and spending time with her large family. She was a beloved member of her church, wonderful mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived by her 2 children, Robert Claudio and Yvonne Valle; her 3 step-children, Santiago Claudio Jr., David Claudio and William Claudio; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grand-children. She will be deeply missed and will forever remain in our hearts.
