

He was born in the Bronx, New York on July 17, 1930 and married Eleanor Jackson on December 30, 1984. Ernest worked for the Consolidated Edison Group of New York, Inc. starting as a Lineman and working his way up to Superintendent. He was a member of the American Legion Post 242 in Pompton Plains, New Jersey and Post 186 in Brooksville, Florida. He loved his family and friends, his life and golf. Ernie's love for his family was beyond immeasurable. When he spoke of family his smile could light up a room. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family was all he truly wanted and needed.
He was predeceased by daughter, Joanne Coyne.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Jackson; children, Denise Genovese and Michael Jackson; son-in-law, John Genovese and Michael Coyne; daughter-in-law, Laurie Jackson; step-son's, Tony Catalano and Michael Catalano; step-daughter, Lyn Braga; step-daughter-in-law, Kathy Catalano and Maria Catalans; step-son-in-law, Bill Braga; sister, Annmarie Hartnett, grandchildren, Meaghan Coyne, Matt Genovese, Taylore Genovese, Carley (Jamie) Marookian, Casey Jackson and Christianna Jackson; step-grandchildren, Michael Catalano, Samantha Catalano and Dana Catalano; and great-grandchild, Ada Clair Marookian.
A Gathering for Ernest will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm, Friday, September 8, 2023 at Merritt Funeral Home-Spring Hill, 4095 Mariner Blvd, Spring Hill, FL 34609, where a Celebration of Life will begin at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at 2:00pm at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102 Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
