Madeline “Lynn” Marie Dowling, age 91, of Spring Hill, Fl. was called home by our Lord on the morning of September 16, 2025, in the arms of her loving daughters. Lynn was born July 8, 1934, at home in New York City to the late Charles and Madeline Grimm. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Grimm, and her loving husband, Donald “Don” Dowling.
Lynn is lovingly remembered by her family, including her daughters, Lois Motchan (Keith) of Oakwood, GA; Cathleen Fellin (Arthur) of Long Island, NY, and Joanne Gluck (Robert) of Marietta, GA; her three grandchildren: Amanda Steger (Brett) of Fernandina Beach, FL; David Gluck (Meredith) of Pompano Beach, FL; and Jenna Angel (Matt) currently stationed in Belgium; and her six great grandchildren, Anna Blue, Andrew, and Adam Steger, and Ben, Jordyn, and Charlie Angel.
A proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was dedicated to her family. In 1984, she married the love of her life, Don. They spent many happy years together, enjoying trips to their vacation home at Eagle Lake in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. Lynn and Don moved to Spring Hill in 1994, and they enjoyed their retirement years in their pool and relaxing on the lanai, drinking coffee, and watching the cars ride by. They were active members of the New York Bowling Club, making many lasting friendships. Her grandchildren fondly remember many trips to Disney and enjoying their summers and school breaks with her, going bowling, swimming, getting ice cream, and spending long days at the beach.
Lynn could always be counted on for fun, and you would usually see her dancing, laughing, and enjoying the company of her friends and family. She is remembered for her love of cooking, especially her famous spaghetti and meatballs. Though she tried, many times, to teach her family the secret to her delicious dish, no one could ever come close. In her later years, Lynn enjoyed going with her daughter to plays and musicals, going out to her favorite restaurants, doing puzzles, playing cards, and Bingo. She was also very artistic and spent many years crocheting and learning the piano. She took great joy in sharing her love of puzzles, crochet, and the piano with her great grandchildren.
Her warmth, humor, and steady presence will be missed most.
