Born on April 11, 1955, in Ranson, West Virginia, she later lived in Spring Hill, Florida.
Martha attended Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia for three years, an experience that reflected her steady commitment to learning and personal growth.
For many years, Martha served as a caregiver, offering consistent support and attentive presence to those who relied on her. Earlier in life, Martha worked as a legal secretary, later she and her former husband owned an audiovisual business, a chapter that spoke to her practicality and willingness to take on the work of building something day by day.
Martha is survived by her brother Wayne D. Whitmer (Pattye) and her sister Anna Louise Whitmer. She is also survived by her nephew Paul Whitmer and nieces Amanda Whitmer, Brittany Leigh Whitmer, Lorena (Whitmer) Griffin, and Brandy (Whitmer) Cothron, Juli Duda, Kimberly A. Warr, Kellye M. Newman, and Kristy L. Shepherd.
She was predeceased by her husband James Kenneth Lang, her brothers Calvin R. Whitmer and John E. Whitmer, and by her nephew Brett Grobosky.
