Salvatore A. Barone

Salvatore Barone, 91, of Spring Hill, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020. Salvatore is survived by his devoted wife Jessie, and children, Stephen Barone and his wife Bashia of Denver Colorado, Michael Barone and his wife Barbara of Bay Shore N.Y., Peter Jensen and his wife Lucy of Bellmore N.Y. and Kate Hansen and her husband Per of Perth Australia. He also leaves grandchildren, Nicole Post, Michael Jr. Barone, Peter Jensen III, Austin Jensen and five great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was pre-deceased by his sister Mary (Barone) Copper and his brother Peter Barone.

Salvatore was born in Staten Island N.Y. a son of Bernard and Dora (Pistilli) Barone. He grew up in New York and lived in Bay Shore N.Y. most of his life, until retiring to Spring Hill, Florida in 1989.

Salvatore worked more than 30 years for the US Postal Service before retiring.

He was a Past Commandant of Marine Corps League Detachment 708 in Spring Hill, a member of the Honor Guard for approximately 20 years, and a Marine of the Year Awardee. He also held the position of Pedigree in the Military Order of the Devil Dogs, Florida Pack, Spring Hill Pound 230. He served as Pound Keeper of Pound 230 and was Devil Dog of the Year Awardee. Salvatore was a Life Member and a member of Detachment 708 since June, 1998.

Graveside Service will be held on August 20, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL.
