William "Bill" Ira Holt

Bill was born in Appleton, Wisconsin to Vern Edgar Holt and Jane Holt. He married Sonja Gayle Stubblefield on June 4th, 1977 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

Bill attended high school in Waycross, Georgia, where he made many lifetime friendships. As a young man, he joined the Air Force, which allowed him to travel all over the country. While stationed in Alaska, he hunted everything from bears to moose, enjoyed ice fishing and participated in snow sports. He was an adventurous man who thoroughly enjoyed the great outdoors. He was an avid golfer and would often spend his days out on the green. Bill also had a passion for music, which he expressed through his drumming.

Bill was a family man who understood the importance of hard work. Bill and Sonja Gayle shared 48 years of marriage. Together, they successfully raised three sons. Bill will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in passing by his parents, Vern Edgar Holt & Jane Holt, as well as his sister, Valerie Holt.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Sonja Gayle Holt; his three sons, William Jeremy Holt, Jason Kelly Holt, and Ira James Holt; two grandchildren, William Kelly Holt and Juliana Rose Holt, and his two nephews, Chuck Holt and Johnny Mize.

A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00am-1:00pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Merritt Funeral Home Spring Hill (4095 Mariner Boulevard, Spring Hill, FL 34609). A Committal Service with military honors will follow at 2:00pm at Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513).
