He was born to Enrique Lopez and Maria Melendez in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He is fondly remembered as a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle. William enlisted in the Army in his 20’s and often told stories of his tours in Germany and Panama. After leaving the Army, William moved to New Jersey where he met and married Irma Zorida Roig, and together they shared three children. William worked in the garment district in both New York and New Jersey for a number of years and retired to Florida in 1991 to become a full-time grandfather. William thoroughly enjoyed baseball, bowling, dominoes, poker, and seafood. Both he and Irma would go on to become involved in several local social clubs where he played dominoes and poker often with his friends and helped host many celebrations and activities. William is remembered most for his quick wit, his comic relief, abilities as a conversationalist, and his generosity. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 3rd, 2024, after battling congestive heart failure and renal failure. William is survived by his children Wilma Lopez, Madeline Pintavalle, and William Rafael Lopez, his grandchildren Danielle Castro, Raphael Pintavalle, and Brielle Lopez, and his brother Martin Colon, nephew Melvin Colon, and niece Myra Spaccavento.
