

Born on June 7, 1939, in Bronx, New York, Arlene was the cherished daughter of William and Ida Cohen. She pursued her passion for education with determination and excellence, earning a bachelor's degree in Education from Hunter College in New York and later a master's degree in Education from Nova University in Florida. Arlene retired after teaching first grade for 35 years in North Miami (Dade County), Florida.
She was a beloved wife to her late husband Manuel and a devoted mother to her daughters Valerie Kerben and Denise Mastropietro. Arlene's love extended deeply into her family; she is survived by her daughter Valerie, son-in-law Jason, granddaughters Jade, Hailey, Olivia, and grandson Jordan. She was predeceased by her parents William and Ida Cohen, her brother Norman, her daughter Denise, and son-in-law John Mastropietro.
Arlene will be remembered as a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her generous spirit, sharp intellect, loving nature, and compassionate heart touched all who knew her. May her memory be a blessing and may she rest in peace.
Graveside services will be held at Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Rd, Elmont, NY, 11003 on Sunday February 8, 2026 at 1:00 PM
Shiva will be held in her memory with family and friends on
February 9, 2026, in Rockville, Maryland.
