

Barbara Ehrlich of Rye, NY, died peacefully at home on Thursday, September 23, 2021. She was 95. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Justin who died in 2012 after 65 years of marriage. She is survived by her cherished sons: Roger (Robin), Douglas, Kenn (Robyn), and Cliff (Sherrie); her grandchildren: Rachel, Daniel, Blake, Hannah, Tyler, Elisabeth, Lauren, Gregory, Becky, and Heather; and her great-grandchildren Julian, Jacob, and Grayson. She was sister to the late David Levy.
Barbara was born on May 10,1926, in New York City to the late Louis and Rose Levy. She graduated from Hunter College, and then as a young professional organized for workers' rights. She had a “stand-up-and-fight” spirit and a love of justice. While raising her young family, Barbara volunteered her time and efforts to many organizations. She embraced the Brandeis National Committee, dedicated to providing philanthropic support for Brandeis University. Known as “Bobby”, she rose quickly to leadership roles including Brandeis National Committee President and she was honored to become a Brandeis Fellow. She was a motivator, a mentor, a scholar and a gifted, sought-after speaker who commanded the room. She continued to be an active member in Central Westchester and will be missed by her friends in that chapter.
Barbara and Justin were passionate travelers whose love of adventure took them to exotic and fascinating destinations around the world.
They raised their four sons in White Plains, NY. Their primary focus on family was felt deeply by each generation. Despite the pandemic and resulting restrictions her family was always there for her. The loving memory of this matriarch will forever be carried in their hearts.
A private graveside funeral service was held in Queens, NY on September 24, 2021. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made to Brandeis University directed to the Barbara and Justin Ehrlich Endowed Scholarship Fund.
