Devoted husband of Harriet Lieman for 66 years. Loving son of the late Morris and Helen Lieman. Beloved father of the late Ari Lieman (Debbi), Lisa Lieman (Michael), and Ellen Beckman (Richard). Caring grandfather of Jeremy, Rachel, Daniel, Bruce, Andrew, Maya, Brian, Scott, David, and Sam.
Born April 30th, 1932 in the Bronx, attended DeWitt Clinton High School. Graduated from Syracuse University, later obtained his Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology. Joined the Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany as a psychologist for the Airborne Division. Honorably discharged and later married the love of his life, Harriet, on June 29, 1957. School Psychologist for 30 years at Children's Village in Dobbs Ferry, NY and a psychologist at a mental health clinic in Monsey, NY. After retirement, worked as an investment counselor.
Ernest loved to travel, read, watch Syracuse Basketball and NBA, and listen to nostalgic songs, classical, Israeli and Yiddish music. He played chess with his grandchildren, loved to listen to them perform and was always eager to hear about their lives. What mattered most to Ernest was staying in close touch with family and friends, both near and far.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, June 5th, 2023 1:00 PM at New City Jewish Center, 47 Old Schoolhouse Rd, New City, NY. Interment will take place immediately following services at Sharon Gardens Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
