I remember this nice man,  he was a chiopractor who gave me some treatments about 6 yrs ago.  Although i didn’t know him any better i remember him making hummus and bringing in crackers for his patients during the week.  He was so young but God called him home,  may he rest in peace….

It's 2024 , I moved from the  Suffern area 2 decades ago, and just now I discovered the great healer of my  neck and back has passed.  
Thank you Howie for fixing my body.  I knew Howie in grade school, watched  his career and life blossom. Howie was always the eternal optimist.  I will always remember his smile, always happy to see you.

Oh yes,  I remember HOWIE,  I was a patient in his chiropractic office for a short time in 2020, from Jan until March. He gave me treatments, adjustments, if you will.  Very nice guy, very mild, supportive & funny.  I’m so sorry he had to pass away so young,   My condolences to his family… Rest In Peace..

I got to know Dr. Werfel because of the 40 DAY  RESET DIET.
Thanks to him, I was able to lose about 60lbs.  I maintained that loss from 2013 until 2021.  My  Type II Diabete Is was "cured".   In 2006  at 5'6", I was about 298 lbs.   When the diet plan concluded I had reduced from around 260 lbs. to 195 lbs.   
In 2021  and 2022 , issues I had with my esophagus, both neurological, and multiple Zenker's pockets,  had me in the hospital and nursing home  for two rounds of treatment, surgery and "rehab". My weight NOW is 139.2 lbs.  
What I took  from the diet plan Dr Werfel espoused, taught me a different and better, way of living   He  literally SAVED MY LIFE.

Dr. Werfel was one of a kind. I first met him in the summer of 2004 when I had a back injury, which he helped me through and I was completely back to normal in no time thanks to him. No other issues at all. Never needed chiropractic care again after that, thank God. He was great. I would run into him all the time in downtown Suffern and would stop to chat with him. Super nice guy. The world lost a really good man. RIP Dr. Werfel

The relationship started about 25 years ago when a friend of mine dragged me along to his office in Suffern for a visit. She was a raving fan of his chiropractic adjustments. At the time I barely knew what chiropractic even was.
When I walked in, I was greeted by the most eccentric and energetic man I had ever met. I was confounded by his presence and energy. There were three tables for patients to lay on, and at the moment we were the only ones there.
As my friend prepared for her session￼, he rapidly moved from table to table, extending his arms above the table and moving his hands in a rapid and awkward motion, as if giving adjustments to invisible people laying there.
As I watched him go, staring at people who weren’t there, I was afraid to ask him what the hell he was doing. My friend later told me “That’s just how he practices. It helps him build his healing energy.”
I walked out that day convinced that the man was cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.
My friend was very persuasive, however, and convinced me to visit again, and told me that the adjustments would be good for the trauma I had experienced a couple of years earlier in a motorcycle accident.￼ I relented, and learned a new respect for his profession. There was a feeling of renewed vitality in me each time he adjusted me, as if I could see, hear, and breathe better.
Years later I went back to him when I was at a turning point in my life, and decided that I needed to lose weight. Over the next several months he guided, and coached me, and kicked my ass when it was needed, and I lost 80 pounds under his tutaledge. Through it all he taught me the value of living life with gratitude each day.
Before you knew it, we began riding motorcycles together, and a friendship was born between him, me, his brother Mark Werfel and my wife Stephanie.
I always loved being around him.

I started adjustments with Mr Howie Werfel about 2 yrs ago… He took some x-rays and began giving me adjustments… I originally came in for stiffness in my lower back.  I felt great after the treatments. I went to him for about 3 months.  He was a very nice guy… I know he was a friend of my brother’s. I’m glad to have met him.  I’m saddened hearing he passed away… RIP Howie….Renee

Dr. Howard (Howie) Werfel had an immeasurable impact on our family.  He spoke powerful blessings onto us, "the power is on, heal, rise, walk !" When we first got to know him, he immediately won us over with a great sense of humor and a genuine concern for our well being. A tremendous healer, Howie was always there when you needed him. He was at our wedding, gave us a meditation tape for our adoption, came to my dad's wake, and so much more. Many years ago, my brother called me last minute and invites me to his company's Christmas party, "but you have to bring a date". I mentioned this to Howie, and he offered to call a beautiful girl he knew (who barely knew me) to see if she would go on a date.  As the story goes, that night on their way home, my sister-in-law says to my brother, "I think Pete finally met the girl he's going to marry". We can honestly say Howie Werfel is the reason our family exists. How many times did we say/or do we say, "well that's like Howie says...". Howie Werfel was and will remain a great part of our family, we were honored to call him our friend.

On occasion, Howie and I would  exchange adjustments at my office. Unfortunately, never enough. I remember he showed me a shoulder technique that I still use today, and I refer in my notes to do the “Werfel technique”.  So, he will always be remembered here by name at my office every time I render that technique. 
His adjustment was powerful and I know his patients will have a difficult time finding another in technique and mostly in spirit to fill his shoes. 
You left a mark on everyone who knew you, Howie. You left all of us too soon, but I suspect the Lord has bigger plans for you. Now rest❤️💔

On the morning of June 29, 2019, Dr. Werfel swooped in on his motorcycle all the way to Teaneck to adjust me on short notice, where I was getting ready for my wedding that afternoon.  A week before my wedding I shredded my knee and could barely walk, let alone stand for my wedding ceremony or even dance at my wedding.  I called him that morning and told him I couldn’t walk and he said he would be right there. He adjusted me and not only was I able to stand for my ceremony, I was able to dance a few songs. He saved the day!! 

I met Dr. Werfel through a friend about 5 years ago. Dr. Werfel was selfless and always made himself available to myself, my family and my friends. He was not just my chiropractor, he was also my friend. He freely shared information and was always ready with honest advice.  He was truly brilliant, genuine, kind and sassy. He was an absolute blessing in my life and I can only pray that his spirit is flying free and his body is now resting in peace. My deepest condolences to his beautiful children, his family and all who knew and loved him. I miss him already. 

I have so many great memories of you I can’t really choose one I am forever grateful to you for always knowing what to say to get me in the right mindset you inspired me and changed my life forever. Thank you for always taking the time to teach me something and because of you I will be able to help more people. You lived out your passion of helping people every single day and you will never be forgotten love you Doc and until we meet again Rest In Peace.

Dr. Werfel was a wonderful chiropractor and  took care of so many people. Even more important, was his positive energy and spirit, which he shared every time. Dr. Werfel was a regular at Adaraka Indian Kitchen and Bar (formerly known as Priya Indian Cuisine Inc.). We have known him for more than 20 plus years. He is such a sweetheart and an A-plus comedian. He will be truly missed. Cant imagine that we saw you couple of days walking Zoey. Our deepest condolences and prayers to your family. I was a patient of Dr Werfel for nearly four years. He was a one of a kind Dr. and person. He genuinely cared for the health and well being of each person he treated. You were truly the most kind, genuine, caring, thoughtful, heartfelt man I've had the fortune of crossing paths with. You changed my life in so many ways, paved many paths in life that I've found myself on. I'm in utter shock and disbelief right now. It feels like a long nightmare that is refusing to end, and there's a part of my soul holding on to a strand of hope that this isn't real. My heart is completely broken. You were a brother to me. 

You've touched thousands and thousands of lives, healed thousands more, and made this world a better place. I'm sure those countless others would echo my sentiments.

I am truly sadden by this terrible news. I met dr.werfel in 2016 when I suffered from a major car accident.  A friend referred me to him and ever since I have been getting healed by dr.werfel. His positive energy, compassion, sense of humor, always giving me advice and checking up on me. I am sad my last hug and adjustment was 1 week ago from you. We laughed and exchanged positive thoughts. I am going to miss your hugs, your smile and our talks. I am going to miss bringing you my yearly holiday Coquito Drink. I witnessed you heal a baby and so many others. You truly did have healing hands. I always prayed for you to protect you everyday. You were such a great person...Why, why, why you?
