Matthew Bensman, 38, of Nanuet, NY, died on March 15, 2015. Matthew was born on May 13, 1976 in Nyack, NY. When he was an infant he was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease, mucolipidosis type IV. He attended classes at ARC Rockland and the Jesse J. Kaplan School. He lived at St. Agatha Home (a division of The New York Foundling), a Nanuet residence for people with disabilities.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Dale and Michael Bensman, and his sister, Sara Bensman Ezer. Many people – caretakers, teachers, health professionals and friends – helped to care for Matthew during his life.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015, 11:00 AM, at Gates of Zion Cemetery 670 Saddle River Road, Airmont, NY.
