Ruth was born on October 24, 1929 in Bracken County, Kentucky to Maude Culp Wilson and Elmo Wilson, Sr. and was the fifth of seven children. She is survived by two brothers, Elmo (Pat) Wilson, Jr. and Ralph (Kay) Wilson. She married William (Bill) Akers on February 21, 1948, and faithfully remained at his side until her death.
She is survived by her husband and children: son Jeemes (Imogene) Akers; daughters, Vicki (Edward) Kuhn, Tricia (Norman) Lathrop, Debbie Barton, and Katy (Dennis) Skaggs. Her grandchildren are Kimberly Payne, Jennifer Lathrop, Aimee Woodin, Brett Skaggs, Robert Lathrop, Amanda Sjodin, Bethany Curtis, and Jed Barton. She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She graduated in 1947 from West Carrolton High School. Ruth was an accomplished artist in Springboro. She displayed her talent in oil paintings, signage, and decorative holiday windows. Many friends and Springboro residents enjoy her original artwork.
Her spiritual legacy and laughter will live on in the hearts and minds of those with whom she encountered. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 35, and has never wavered in that faith. She joyfully shared the Gospel whenever possible through the singing in church, leading Bible study groups and Vacation Bible School, where she created props and told exciting stories to spread the word of Jesus.
She had many close friends who share in our rejoicing including Linda Butcher among others.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Howard (HoJo) and Marlene Johnson and the staff from the Warren County Office of the Aging.
