
He was born December 9, 1922 the son of Elmer and Rose M. (McCombs) Hinds. He married Lola Lamkular November 4, 1945 in Ashland, IL; she preceded him in death in 2000. He was also preceded in death by a son, Larry G. Hinds, and a brother.
Albert is survived by his son Phil (wife Margaret) Hinds of Arizona, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three sisters, a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
He was in the U.S. Marines during WWII, serving in the South Pacific from Guadal Canal to Okinawa. He started off as a trooper for the Illinois State Police and worked his way up to Superintendent in 1977. He received a presidential appointment as U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Illinois. He was a bailiff for the Chief U.S. District Judge of St. Louis and retired in 1991. In his spare time he loved to travel in his motor home. He was also a member of Central Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill in Springfield on Friday, February 11, 2011, at 10:00 am with Reverend Reg Mills officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Ashland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church.
