

Alberta “Bertie” L. Fox passed away on Friday, December 8, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. Alberta was born on November 17, 1920 to Karl and Gladys Carls Hager. She attended Ashland Community High School and MacMurray College in Jacksonville. She married Woodrow W. Fox of Decatur on October 28, 1945 at Ashland Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1991. Alberta worked at Sangamo Electric and for the State of Illinois. She retired on January 29, 1991 after working many years as the receptionist at the Municipal Building in Springfield, Illinois.
Mrs. Fox is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Kuhnke (husband, Keith) of Springfield and one son, John (wife, Barbara) of Chatham. She is also survived by one grandson, Josh, of Nashville, TN and one granddaughter, Jenna, of St. Louis, MO. In addition, she is survived by two brothers, William Hager of Sherman and Robert Hager of Ashland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Ray Eugene Hager and two sisters, Dorothy Loeffler and Lucille Hodges.
Mrs. Fox belonged to and enjoyed several clubs. She was a charter member of the "In or Out Club" and "Alma's Group". She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for many years. She loved socializing, any excuse for a lunch out and visiting with friends. She was also an avid Illini basketball fan. Mrs. Fox loved traveling especially cruising. Above all else, though, the lights of her life were her grandchildren, Josh and Jenna.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road, with burial to follow at Ashland Cemetery. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at Bisch West.
