Alice was born in Carlinville on December 23, 1936, the daughter of Lowel and Helen (Clark) Mefford. She married Sydney J. Monier on March 17, 1954 in Springfield.
She graduated from Carlinville High School and then worked for Fiatt Allis and JC Penney. Alice enjoyed dogs, sewing, reading, and riding motorcycles. Her life’s joy was raising her children.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
She is survived by her son, John “Butch” (Tammie) Monier; daughter, Sydney “Jan” Monier; grandchildren, Andrew Shutt, Ashley Monier, and Aubrey Cope; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, IL. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Kevin Mann, officiating. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings and limiting attendance to 50 guests at one time.Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
