

Alyce V. Coble, 88, of Springfield, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Springfield IL. Alyce was born October 15, 1916 in Madisonville, TN the daughter of James Nicholas and Robbie Eugena Abernathy Grills. She was a past member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Coble was a homemaker and had worked part-time as a librarian at Blessed Sacrament Parish grade school and also assisted her husband at Coble Animal Hospital. She was a member of a bridge club and had been an active member of the Springfield Art Association. Alyce was preceded in death by her parents; one son: J. Porter Coble II and former husband: J. Porter Coble DVM. She is survived by three sons: James P. Coble of Springfield, Franklin A. Coble DVM, of Loami, IL, and Rex (wife, Linda) Coble of Fredericksburg, VA; two grandsons: Jayson A. (wife Rebecca) Coble, son of James P. Coble and Jeff Coble son of Rex and Linda Coble and two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2005 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield with Rev. Msgr. Carl Kemme V.G,, principal celebrant. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish 1725 S. Walnut Springfield, IL 62704 or to the Catholic Diocesan Vocation Fund, Catholic Pastorial Center, 1615 W. Washington, Springfield, IL 62708 or charity of donor's choice.
