Ann was born on October 6, 1956, in Limestone, ME, the daughter of Robert D. and Mary Olga McDonald. She married the love of her life, Stephen Gene Otten on June 13, 1987, in Springfield at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception.
Ann was a Lanphier High School graduate. She retired from the Department of Natural Resources after more than 25 years of state service. Prior to that, she worked for various law firms. Ann’s strong, loving, and compassionate personality made her a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She was a member of The Springfield Civic Garden Club, attended Bible studies at Koke Mill Christian Church and Westside Christian Church, Mom’s Group, Illini Country Club, and Panther Creek Country Club. Ann enjoyed gardening, hiking, bird watching, and traveling, especially to her favorite place on earth, Hilton Head Island.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert D. McDonald; one brother, Arthur Roy McDonald; nephew, Jacob Scott McDonald; and parents-in-law, Stanley and Thelma Otten.
Ann is survived by her husband, Steve Otten; sons, Ryan Charles (fiancée, Gabrielle McNamara) Otten of Springfield and Sean Stephen (companion, Paige Smith) Otten of Springfield; mother, Mary Olga McDonald of Springfield; five siblings, Robert (spouse, Jane) McDonald of Hattiesburg, MS, Mark McDonald of Springfield, Patrick (spouse, Odette) McDonald of Biloxi, MS, Charles McDonald of Springfield, and Teresa (spouse, Mitch) Flesch of Springfield; and beloved dog, Bodie.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Koke Mill Christian Church, 475 South Koke Mill Rd., Springfield.
Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Koke Mill Christian Church with Pastor Stan Summers officiating.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center after ceremonies.
Memorial contributions may be made to Koke Mill Christian Church and The Springfield Civic Garden Club.
