

She was born Sept. 1, 1925, the daughter of Dr. David J. and Anne Lewis. On Jan. 2, 1949 she married Donald R. Patton in Springfield. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Patton was an active member of the Springfield Community. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Mills College, her Master’s degree from the University of Illinois, and her PHD from Southern Illinois University. Mrs. Patton was also a Lay Pastor with the Presbytery of Great Rivers.
She helped organize the Commission on International Visitors for the City of Springfield, worked as the Assistant Dean of Admission/Records at Sangamon State University (now UIS), was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, PEO Sisterhood, and a 50 year member of First Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
She is survived by three sons, Rick (wife, Judy) of Springfield, David (wife, Allie) of Chattanooga, TN, and Robert of Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Donnie, Zack, Danielle, Bobby, Michael and James David; a sister Jane (husband, Bud) Luers of Springfield and a brother Dave (wife, Jo Ann) Lewis of Wheatland, WY.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan, 18 from 5 to 7 pm at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 11:30 am at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Clifford Hayes will be officiating.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Springfield or Illinois Presbyterian Home, Springfield.
