

Arthur L. Mansfield 80, of Springfield died at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at St. John's Hospice. Arthur was born November 7, 1927 in Springfield, the son of Arlo and Sarah Adams Mansfield. He married Adeline Groats on November 20, 1948 in Springfield. Arthur was a member of Union Local #477. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Arthur's greatest joys were being outdoors camping, hunting, fishing, and being with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty J. Mansfield; step-sister: LuLa Stewart and half brother, Earl Mansfield. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Adeline of Springfield; son, Todd (companion, Dori Curtis) Mansfield of Springfield; three daughters: Diane (companion, Loren Martin) Killen of Springfield, Joyce (husband, Mike) Herndon of Salem, AR and Carol Gumble of Springfield; seven grandchildren: Shannon, Angie, Kristen, Mike, Justin, Valerie and Tony; eleven great-grandchildren; three sisters: Doris Brown, Louise Kail and Mary Lou Pippin all of Springfield; two brothers: Carl Mansfield and Donald Mansfield both of Springfield; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon will provide military honors.
