

She was born in Springfield, November 19, 1939 the daughter of James Luther and Clara (Stewart) Jones. She married Thomas Edward Marvel in Springfield, in 1959 and he survives.
Barb is also survived by her son, Stephen (wife Janice) Marvel of Waggoner, IL, her two grandsons; Julian and Ian Marvel, a sister, Rebecca (husband David) Jones Grooms, her sister-in-law, Doris (husband Mark) Rubenstein and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barb attended Springfield public Schools, graduating in 1957 from Springfield High School. She worked for Federated Funeral Director’s in her younger years but was later known as a true culinary artist. She was well known for her decorated cakes and pastries. She taught cake decorating for Wilton’s and designed and decorated cakes at Baskin-Robbins for many years. She had a passion for Dubois School and would often volunteer and helped with their activities and fund raising. She was a member of Douglas Ave. United Methodist Church and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She shared her talent of the piano with her son and they would often play duet’s together entertaining family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside ceremony at 11:00 am Thursday August 11, 2016 at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield. Rev. Julia Melgreen will officiate.
