She was born on September 12, 1935, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of John and Flora (Coons) Link. She married Kenneth Snow in 1957, and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage prior to his death in 2011.
Barbara retired from the Illinois Department of Agriculture when her husband retired from Fiat-Allis, which gave them much more time to spend at their cabin. Barbara and Kenneth greatly enjoyed riding motorcycles, particularly Harley Davidsons, and spending time at their cabin on Pana Lake. She was an avid fan of Chicago Cubs baseball and Chicago Bears football. She was overjoyed when the Cubs finally won the World Series. She always watched and followed Chicago Bears football on television, despite their continued inability to reach the Super Bowl, a great source of irritation to her. She was a happy-go-lucky, easy-going soul who got along with most everyone and believed in “going with the flow”, no matter what life threw at her. She will be greatly missed.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and three siblings.
She is survived by special nieces and nephews, Barbara and James Shipp, and Henri and Barbara LeVeque; along with several other nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a long and dear friend, Mary Bauer, of Taylorville, who was considered by Barbara to be an “adopted daughter”.
The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield
Services are planned for a later date.
