Betty M. Crouch, 81, of Riverton, died at 2:10 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Villa Health Care East. Betty was born October 16, 1929 in Springfield, the daughter of Elmer and Frances Doolin Bristow. She married Earl Howard Crouch and he preceded her in death in 1998. Betty graduated from Lanphier High School and later attended Lincoln Land Community College and St. Mary of the Woods College where she received a certificate as a computer programmer/analyst. She was active in St. James Parish in Riverton as a choir member, a member of the RCIA team and a member of the Quilters Guild. She lived most of her life in Springfield and retired from the Office for Catholic Education in 1992 after 21 years of service. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sara Jane White; two step-brothers, George Rooney and James Rooney; and one step-sister, Betty Ann Feltz. She is survived by her son, Alan V. (wife, Nora ) Crouch of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter, Mary Eileen Crouch of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Donald (wife, Dolores) Bristow of Springfield and Gerald (wife, Masayo) Bristow of Oakland, CA; two step-sisters, Mary Margaret Balculas of Lake View, AR and Sr. Marion Rooney, MSSC of Chicago; two step-brothers, Thomas Rooney, Jr. and Peter Rooney; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:15-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. Concelebrated Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 at St. James Church, 112 N. 6th St., Riverton with Rev. Joseph Ring and Rev. Robert Porter, celebrants.
