Betty Sue Holgerson

Betty Sue Holgerson, 82, of Springfield, formerly of Pawnee, died at 2:04 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. Betty was born February 10, 1936 in Pulaski, VA, the daughter of Douglas and Nellie King Quesenberry. She married Cecil W. "Wain" Holgerson in 1961; he preceded her in death in 1994. Betty graduated from Pulaski High School and attended nursing school in Baltimore, MD. She had worked in a variety of positions, but her most rewarding was working with the blind and other students with special needs. Betty enjoyed cooking, reading, and spending time with her family. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Martha Zeigler. She is survived by her sons, Eric Holgerson of Pompton Lakes, NJ and Neil Holgerson of Springfield; granddaughter, Mackenzie Shaffer of Latham; three nieces; and four nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
