Betty June Maxwell

Betty J. Maxwell, 84, of Springfield, passed away at 6:37 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014 at her residence. Betty was born June 6, 1929 in Astoria, IL, the daughter of Roy and Edie Weese Kinkead. She married Phillip L. Maxwell on November 29, 1947 in Quincy; he preceded her in death. Betty was a graduate of Astoria High School in 1947. She was a representative for Avon for 28 years. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Phil Maxwell; one daughter, Jennifer Maxwell; and two brothers, Herbert and Harold Kinkead. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (husband, James) Stickel of Springfield and Marilyn Kuykendall of Chatham; four sons, Bob (the late Jan) Maxwell of Rochester, Tom (wife, Jannie) Maxwell of Little Rock, AR, Jimmy Maxwell of Springfield, and Mickey (companion, Mary Kay Lentz) Maxwell of Springfield; one daughter-in-law, Donna Maxwell of Springfield; fifteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
