Born on October 10, 1926, in Cass County, Illinois, she grew up in the Sangamon Valley of Cass County. She married Donald Workman on April 28, 1945. They lived, worked and raised their two daughters in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Betty lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She had a passion for crafts, especially sewing, quilting, and crocheting. She had a green thumb and loved tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She enjoyed music, playing piano and organ, dancing, square dancing, old movies, reading the daily newspaper, and following the St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and Illini basketball teams. She loved gatherings with family and friends. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh.
Betty Workman was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church. Her faith sustained her throughout her life but Betty was also grateful to the kind and caring members of Concordia Village and Gentiva Hospice, who provided exceptional care to her and her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Louis J and Rose L (Jones) Davidsmeier, her husband Donald, brothers, Harold, Eugene, and Earl Davidsmeier, sister, Donna Turner, and son-in-law, Mike Beaty. She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Ken Petersen) Dufelmeier of Boone, Iowa and Katherine Beaty of New Port Richey, Florida; five grandchildren, Sharil (Doug) Crouch, Nikole Dufelmeier, Jennifer Mahedy, Andrea (Brian) Miller, and Christopher (Raleigh Blasdell) Beaty; eight great-grandchildren, Stren and Hoyt Crouch, Luke, Logan and Levi Mahedy, Anika, Claire and Connor Miller; two half-sisters, Linda (David) Humphrey and Emily Remster; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday April 16, 2024 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road and burial will be in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia, Illinois at 1:00pm on Tuesday. The family will greet friends from 10:00am until the time of service Tuesday at Bisch West.
