

He was born on August 2, 1971, in Quincy, IL, the son of William Keith and Kathy (Kuhlman) Angell.
Brian graduated from Havana High School with the class of 1989 and earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bloomington’s Illinois State University in 1993. He worked as a vice president for Kearney Commercial Bank in Kearney, MO, for four years. Brian was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, and while at ISU, he was president of the Red Tassel Mortar Board. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan who enjoyed being outdoors, learning how to fly an airplane, and going to the riverboat, where he played blackjack. In his younger years, Brian enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father. He was a competitive soul who was referred to lovingly by his sister as “your royal highness”. In high school, his nickname was “Woof”.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Katherine Kuhlman; paternal grandparents, Betty Angell Unmisig and Bill Angell; aunts, Marcia Cray and Candy Foote; and his beloved yellow lab, Chester.
Brian is survived by his parents, William and Kathy Angell; sister, Stacey Angell of Havana, IL; uncle, Howard Cray of Springfield; aunt, Marsha Angell of Texas; and several cousins; bonus family members, Norma, John, Loretta, Josalyn, Sonia, Christal, Lois, and Jill.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center, prior to services.
Memorial Gathering and Mass of Christian Burial: Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, followed by the Mass at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Zachary Samples, celebrant.
Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Quincy, IL, at a later date.
