Byron William Francis

Byron was born November 5, 1957 in Monroe, WI, the son of Dr. Byron John and Norma Waelti Francis. He married Jaime Susanne Kornfeld on October 13, 1979 at Christ the King Catholic Church.

Byron attended Lincoln Land Community College and SIU Carbondale. He retired from the Springfield Fire Department where he served as a Fire Captain, arson investigator, and was a member of the Hazmat team. Byron also operated his own tree-trimming business for several years. He was a member of the TRN Club, Ski & Boat Club, Troopers Lodge, and the Firefighters Club. He loved to read, ski, and surf. Most of all, he loved being with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Byron John Francis.

He is survived by his wife, Jaime Francis of Springfield; mother, Norma Francis of Trinity, FL; two daughters, Rachael (Jason) Spencer of Glenarm and Emily Francis (Clayton Volle) of Springfield; three grandchildren, Shelby Spencer, Isabella Schmidt, and Owen Spencer; three siblings, Ann Francis of Sarasota, FL, John (Teresa) Francis of Palm Harbor, FL, and Margaret (Greg) Ring of Raleigh, NC; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December, 19, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield.
