

Carl R. Rudin, 86, of Springfield, passed away at 8:35 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 at St. John's Hospice, surrounded by his family. Carl was born and raised in Springfield the son of August and Anna Stoffel Rudin. He married Patricia Hilliard on January 31, 1948 at St. Agnes Church. He was a graduate of Lanphier High School and served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. Carl enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends and was a charter member of Charlie's Golf League as well as the Holy Family Bowling League. Carl was the General Manager of the Citizens Tribune Newspaper for many years until he founded Rudin Printing Company in 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Albert and Clarence "Bud" Rudin. Carl is survived by his wife, Pat. Four children: Becky (Fred) Fliege of Springfield, Carl (Sharon) Rudin of Sherman, Janet (Greg) McClelland of Lansing, MI and Nancy Simpson of Denver, CO. Seven grandchildren: Ben (Becca) Rudin, Chris (Allison) Rudin, Erin (Dave) Claassen, Eric Fliege, Austin Simpson, Sara (Sean) Carroll and Denise Pachlhofer. Three great-grandchildren: Elijah, Liam and Aspen Rudin. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Funeral ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Porter officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Department of Defense and the Interveterans Burial Detail.
